Feral Animals
Rats and Mice <
Do I have Rats or Mice?
- Are you hearing noises in your roof ?
- Does it sound like little feet pitter-patter across your ceiling ?
- Is there scratching or screeching noises ?
- How long has it been since you last had a rodent treatment ?
It’s very hard to prevent your home or unit from a rat or mouse infestation. They squeeze through the smallest of gaps and holes. Your home is not perfectly sealed to keep the vermin out. Rats and mice enter into your homes for all types of reasons. It could be food or shelter, needless to say they are still not welcome.
Generally rodent treatments are tackled with non-toxic control methods before any baiting programs are introduced. Proofing is the first line of attack with the baits only used to eradicate what vermin you still have within your home or unit. Rat pest control methods are a little more in depth as they are the smarter of the two, but in mice pest control, they are not to be taken lightly as there may be more of them in numbers overall.
Possums <
Do I have Possums?
- Are you hearing noises in your roof ?
- Does it sound like an elephant at night ?
- Is it the same time in the evening and/or morning ?
- Do you have trees or branches touching your roof top ?
Possums love to sleep in your roofs during the day. They are nocturnal creatures who play by night and sleep by day. Possums heard in the roof usually sound like elephants walking on your ceiling. They exit and enter at the same time every night and morning. They can only access your roof if you have branches or a tree touching.
Catch / proof and release programs are carried out to fix our possum problems. We set cages overnight within the roof void. We return the next day to retrieve the possums caught but while we have them in the cages, we proof off the holes with mesh. The mesh is usually only temporary until the hole is fixed properly by a licensed builder. We then release the possums within a 50m radius just in case they have any young. If noises persist, we will set cages again immediately. If we do not catch any possums and we can determine that the likelihood of the problems is not possums then we generally bait the roof areas for rodents.
Feral Birds <
Do I have Feral Birds?
- Do you have bird droppings at your premises ?
- Are they nesting within the structure ?
- Have they got particular resting areas on pipes or beams ?
- This is causing a health risk, Right ?
Feral bird control consists of the proofing, relocating and eradication of feral birds. Feral birds contaminate worksites, homes, warehouses, products and produce. Their droppings not only contaminate products and produce but can cause major health concerns for the public and fellow workers.
Pigeons are Sydney’s main feral bird which is always under scrutiny when they inhabit people’s homes and businesses. They rest, nest and defecate on paths, driveways, warehouse floors, entry doors, products and produce leaving the owners no option but to relocate or eradicate them.
